The Decade of the Brain was declared for the 1990’s by President Bush. And what a decade it has been! Tremendous research results show two very important things about YOUR brain.
1. Your brain is “plastic.” It’s known now to be more flexible (plastic) and changeable than we knew before. It turns out it can actually grow new cells and connections even as we age. How cool is that!
2. When you exercise your brain it helps you grow new brain cells. It keeps you used to thinking and performing and remembering. It keeps your brain in shape and helps to protect against age-related loss.
There’s no getting around it. We all will have some age-related loss of memory but that’s okay! When you exercise your brain, it becomes stronger and you will notice the changes less.
Where did I get this great information?
I forget.
Oops! I mean in this book:
The Brain Training Revolution, A Proven Workout For Healthy Brain Aging
by Paul E. Bendheim MD
Dr. Bendheim says you can help prevent memory loss, increase brain agility (quickness) and reduce the risk of Alzheimer’s. All good things!
You can find the book online or at the library. Reading and learning new things stimulates your brain. Get the book. Grow new cells.
Your brain will be with you until the end. Don’t leave it behind. Take good care of your brain and feed it well and it will stick around so you can enjoy it your whole life.
